Germantown, Tenn. (December 17, 2012) – Mariah Bamrick, a senior at St. Benedict High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Bamrick is one of seven students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for English & Literature. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Bamrick and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis on Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Bamrick is a dedicated student with an extraordinary gift for writing, holds a 4.0 weighted grade point average and scored 25 on the ACT with a 33 on the English portion of the test. She took AP English Language and Composition last year and is taking Dual Enrollment English this year. Bamrick is the current News Editor for the school newspaper and plans to major in journalism in college.
As senior class president, Bamrick is able to diplomatically lead her peers in accomplishing what is needed for success. She has been tapped for the National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Bamrick also is a Senior Retreat Leader, SGA class representative and member of the Model UN team, the Latin Club, Key Club, St. Jude Club, Teens for Life, and Pep Club.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.
Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
